
Friday evening in Deerfield Beach turned tense when an attempted armed robbery erupted in gunfire, but deputies say the intended victim walked away without a scratch.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office reports the confrontation broke out around 7:20 p.m. along the 1100 block of South Military Trail. Two people allegedly approached a victim and tried to rob them at gunpoint. During the encounter, one of the suspects fired a shot, yet the victim managed to get away unharmed.
According to Local 10, deputies said the two suspects were known to the victim. Investigators later tracked down one of them and took that person into custody. The suspect’s identity has not been released, and officials have not publicly detailed the second person’s role or current whereabouts.
Detectives from the Broward Sheriff’s Office Robbery and Crime Scene units are working the case, processing evidence and piecing together exactly what led up to the gunfire.
