SOCORRO - A tense hours-long standoff on the 300 block of Flor Bonita Avenue ended Saturday with the arrest of 35-year-old Luis Angel Pasillas, after what police describe as a brutal knife assault tied to a domestic dispute. Socorro authorities say Pasillas forced his ex-girlfriend into a residence near Flor Bonita Avenue and Peters Road and allegedly attacked both a female victim and a male victim with a large knife, prompting neighbors to call police. According to officers, the male victim managed to escape, then returned with another person and helped the female victim get out of the home before police negotiated Pasillas' surrender.
How police say the standoff unfolded
Officers were dispatched on Saturday on an aggravated assault call and found Pasillas inside the residence, reportedly armed with a large knife. As the situation dragged on for hours, Socorro police called for a quick-reaction force. Investigators say Pasillas at one point tried to flee and displayed a handgun during the incident before he was finally taken into custody after several hours. These details were reported by KTSM.
Not the first violent barricade in town
Socorro has seen other recent barricade-style confrontations that drew tactical responses and led to jail bookings, including a May 2025 standoff at a local smoke shop that ended in arrests. That earlier case and the city's recent run of violent calls were documented in Hoodline's coverage of the smoke shop standoff.
Charges and custody
Socorro police say Pasillas was booked on multiple counts, including violation of a protective order, unlawful restraint, resisting arrest, burglary of a habitation, and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Officers told reporters that three of the charges were designated no-bond and that his bail totaled $20,000. Authorities say Pasillas remains in custody pending arraignment. The charges and bond information were reported by KTSM.
