Anna’s Taqueria has officially rolled into South Boston, opening Tuesday at 457 West Broadway and bringing its famously oversized burritos to the middle of West Broadway’s growing dining strip. To celebrate the debut, the shop sold its signature super burritos for $3.50 for one day only, a throwback to the price when the chain launched in 1995. Opening-day extras included a prize wheel, a Magic Mirror photo booth and limited-edition Southie T-shirts for the first 100 guests.
According to Boston.com, the one-day super burrito deal was available in-store only, capped at one burrito per person, with premium add-ons still costing extra. The outlet also reports that the new Southie shop is Anna’s 14th restaurant and that the $3.50 price salute nods to the chain’s Brookline beginnings in 1995.
Big Papi burrito backs kids’ heart care
Alongside the usual lineup, Anna’s is serving a limited-time "Big Papi Burrito," a steak-and-chipotle creation designed by David Ortiz. As noted on Anna’s Taqueria's website, $1 from every Big Papi burrito sold will be donated to the David Ortiz Children’s Fund to support pediatric heart surgeries and care in the Dominican Republic and New England.
Slotting into West Broadway’s restaurant wave
The Southie outpost arrives amid a spring surge of food openings on West Broadway. Coverage of the West Broadway restaurant boom highlights how the corridor is pulling in chef-driven concepts and late-night crowds, with Anna’s now adding a quick-service burrito option to the mix.
