She was not struck, managed to wrest the weapon away, called 911 and brought deputies to the scene, investigators said. The man stayed at the house and was taken into custody, and jail records list an attempted murder charge.
What deputies said
According to deputies with the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, the confrontation followed an earlier physical altercation between the suspect and one of the couple’s children. Investigators say the dispute escalated when the man grabbed a concealed-carry bag holding a black gun and went upstairs, then came back down with the bag.
Deputies say he removed the gun, pointed it at his wife’s head, asked if she was “done arguing,” and fired a shot that missed her and hit a wall. A struggle over the firearm led to a second discharge before the woman secured the weapon and called 911. She later reported pain in her left knuckles and bruising on her right arm. Deputies say the incident took place in the 13000 block of Southwest 143rd Avenue, in the unincorporated Three Lakes area of Miami-Dade County. After being told his wife had called 911, the man reportedly waited outside the home with his hands behind his back as officers arrived.
