Staff at the mon Harding Lane began life-saving care before emergency crews arrived, and paramedics were able to stabilize the child for transport. Officials have not released the infant’s condition.
Emergency response and transport
The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District and Woodstock police were called around 10:45 a.m. after a 911 report of an infant who was not breathing at the House of Children in the 2500 block of Harding Lane. According to Lake & McHenry County Scanner, daycare staff had already started providing care when paramedics arrived. Crews stabilized the 4-month-old, who was first taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital, then transferred by medical helicopter to a specialized children’s center. Woodstock Fire/Rescue Public Information Officer Alex Vucha told the outlet that close coordination between responders on scene and hospital staff was key to the transfer.
Center's statement
The daycare later posted on Facebook to thank first responders and ask for community support, saying staff were “extremely proud” of their team’s quick actions and wishing “a speedy and full recovery for this sweet baby,” according to Patch. The post also offered prayers for the child and expressed gratitude for both staff and emergency crews.
What parents and investigators need to know
The incident remains under investigation, and officials have not said what triggered the medical emergency. Under Illinois law, daycare employees are mandated reporters, and suspected abuse or licensing concerns can be reported to the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. The DCFS child-abuse hotline number and online reporting portal are available on the agency’s website, according to Illinois DCFS.
