A quiet Avondale neighborhood woke up to a grim scene Saturday morning as police and fire crews pulled the body of an adult man from a community water feature near 107th Avenue and Indian School Road. Responders were called after someone reported a person in the water, and medical personnel pronounced the man dead at the scene. Authorities have not released the victim's name or a cause of death.
Where it happened
The recovery unfolded at a community lake near Crimson Lane and Rosewood Avenue, just off Indian School Road and 107th Avenue. According to Arizona's Family, first responders pulled a body from the water and confirmed that an active investigation was underway.
How it was found
Some reports indicate a canal worker discovered the body around 5 a.m. and quickly alerted authorities. ABC15 reports that Avondale Fire and Medical crews recovered the person and that officials believe the remains are those of an adult male while investigators continue to process the scene.
Victim details and the investigation
KTAR reports medical personnel said the man appeared to be in his 30s and confirmed he was already dead when they reached him. Avondale police have not released the victim's identity and told Arizona's Family that the investigation remains ongoing.
Nearby recoveries have authorities watching
Earlier this week, authorities also pulled an unidentified body from a pond near the Arizona Biltmore golf course, a separate recovery that drew attention across the Valley. That June 4 mystery body recovery underscored how multiple water incidents have kept investigators busy in recent days.
