A violent confrontation along a busy stretch of Camelback Road left a woman fighting for her life Tuesday evening in west Phoenix, authorities said.
Phoenix police reported that officers were called around 5:15 p.m. for a disturbance along Camelback Road just east of 43rd Avenue. When they arrived, they found a woman with what investigators believe to be a stab wound. She was rushed to a hospital in critical condition.
The man involved in the fight had not been located as of Tuesday night, and detectives are continuing to piece together what happened.

According to ABC15 Arizona, a caller reported a fight between a man and a woman, prompting the police response. The woman was transported in critical condition while detectives worked to determine what led up to the reported stabbing and to identify everyone involved.
Recent incidents near 43rd Avenue
Tuesday's violence follows a May attack near 43rd Avenue and McDowell Road that left a man with life-threatening wounds, as previously reported in a bike stickup left man with life-threatening wounds. That earlier case was another serious assault in the same general corridor and has been cited in ongoing coverage of local public safety concerns this spring.
