A months-long homicide investigation that started at an Indianapolis apartment complex and stretched to Chicago has ended with the arrest of a 27-year-old suspect, according to Indianapolis police.
In a post on IMPD News, violent-crime detectives said they located and arrested Devontae Webb‑Holloway on June 9 in the 4500 block of Crittenden Avenue in Chicago. The post identified Webb‑Holloway, 27, as a suspect in the Nov. 24, 2025 death of Amanda Jones and said witness statements were critical to tracking him down across state lines.
Brookwood Apartments Killing
Officers were called around 11:55 p.m. on Nov. 24 to the 700 block of Turtle Creek North Drive at the Brookwood Apartments, where they found 26-year-old Amanda Jones with multiple gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene, according to WISH-TV.
A 2-year-old child was discovered inside the home and was taken into custody by the Indiana Department of Child Services, the station reported. At the time, IMPD urged anyone with information to contact Detective Michal Dinnsen at 317-327-3475 or email [email protected].
Investigation And Arrest
According to IMPD's Facebook update, homicide detectives identified Webb‑Holloway as a suspect after follow-up interviews and additional investigative work. Witness cooperation produced new leads that police say ultimately pointed them to Chicago, where they made the arrest.
The department noted that the Marion County Prosecutor's Office will make the final decision on any criminal charges, and emphasized that Webb‑Holloway is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
What Happens Next
If prosecutors decide to file charges, officials could move to extradite Webb‑Holloway from Illinois to Marion County for arraignment. As outlined by the Marion County Prosecutor's Office, the agency reviews arrests, determines whether to file formal charges, and provides victim services and case updates.
The arrest caps a months-long investigation into the November killing and highlights how heavily IMPD relies on witnesses to move homicide cases forward, even when the trail leads far beyond Indianapolis city limits.
