A normally routine intersection in Winton Hills turned into a full-blown crime scene last night, as a large police presence converged on Center Hill and Este avenues after a crash that drew multiple marked cruisers and investigators. Officers at the scene said people were being taken into custody. It was not immediately clear whether anyone had been seriously hurt.
Police Probe Possible Robbery Connection
According to WLWT News 5, Cincinnati officers responded to the intersection of Center Hill Avenue and Este Avenue, where investigators said people were being taken into custody. Detectives were told a silver Jeep had been seen at a robbery at a different location earlier, and officers were investigating whether the vehicle involved in the crash was connected to that alleged robbery.
Neighborhood On Edge After Recent Heavy Responses
The Winton Hills neighborhood has seen several high-profile police actions in recent months, including a May SWAT deployment on Winneste Avenue. As detailed in the Swat Floods Winneste Avenue, SWAT and dozens of officers formed perimeters and briefly closed streets while investigators worked. In February, a collision on Este Avenue left a passenger dead, highlighting a run of violent incidents and dangerous crashes in the same pocket of the city, see WCPO for that report.
What Police Are Saying So Far
Cincinnati police have not released names, charges, or a full timeline of what happened, and investigators continue to work the scene, WLWT News 5 reported. Officials did not immediately provide further comment to the station. This story will be updated as authorities release more information.
