
Gunfire erupted yesterday afternoon near the intersection of Halstead Street and Kottmann Street in Cincinnati’s CUF neighborhood, leaving a man critically injured and the area littered with police tape and damaged cars. Emergency crews rushed the victim to a hospital with life-threatening wounds, and officers later described his condition as critical but stable. Parts of the surrounding streets were shut down as investigators worked the scene, which included multiple crashed vehicles.
According to FOX19, Cincinnati police said the shooting happened yesterday afternoon near Halstead and Kottmann and that detectives are searching for two suspects. The station reports that investigators are using canines as part of the search and that there is still no word on what led up to the gunfire.
Recent violence near the university
The shooting adds to a troubling stretch of violence in CUF, the cluster of neighborhoods around the University of Cincinnati. A fatal shooting on Ravine Street earlier this month underscored growing community concern about public safety in the area.

Per FOX19, officers deployed K-9 units and continued a ground search for the two suspects while investigators processed the scene. FOX19 crews also observed multiple crashed vehicles near the site, though authorities have not confirmed whether those collisions are connected to the shooting.
