A late-night argument near Abbott Park in Chicago's Roseland neighborhood turned deadly Saturday, leaving a 36-year-old man shot multiple times and a community once again reeling from gun violence on the Far South Side. He was rushed to a suburban hospital and later died, as Calumet Area detectives opened a homicide investigation.
What police say
Around 9:50 p.m., the 36-year-old man was near Abbott Park at 95th Street and State Street when another man walked up and the two began arguing, according to CBS Chicago. Police said the dispute turned physical and the second man pulled a gun, shooting the victim multiple times before running off north toward 95th Street.
The victim was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was later pronounced dead, CBS Chicago reported. No one was in custody as of Sunday morning, and Calumet Area detectives are handling the investigation.

After the shooting, the man was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn and later died. The shooting remains under investigation, and authorities have not released a suspect description or a possible motive.
