
New Orleans police are probing a Wednesday shooting in the Seventh Ward that left a man with a gunshot wound near A.P. Tureaud Avenue and North Tonti Street. The victim reportedly arrived at a hospital by private vehicle, and detectives say they are actively working the case while keeping most details under wraps for now.
According to WDSU, officers were on scene at the intersection collecting evidence and talking with witnesses. The outlet reports that police have not yet released a suspect description or possible motive, and the investigation remains very much in progress.

The area around A.P. Tureaud has seen more than its share of gunfire in recent years. Coverage of a deadly "man down" call in January and a March 2024 quadruple shooting reported by FOX 8 have underscored ongoing safety fears for neighbors. Those earlier incidents also triggered renewed calls from residents for more policing and additional resources in the neighborhood.
