A Sunday afternoon turned violent in southeast Memphis when a man was shot and critically wounded on Flodden, according to police. Officers were called to the 6200 block of Flodden around 3:23 p.m., where they found the victim and rushed him to a hospital in critical condition.
As reported by FOX13 Memphis, witnesses and officers said the suspected gunman took off from the scene in a maroon sedan. The suspect had not been detained in the initial hours of the investigation, and police did not immediately release a possible motive or identifying information.
Police response and local context
The shooting is the latest in a run of violent incidents in southeast Memphis this year, including both daytime and late-night gunfire that has left people in critical condition. Hoodline previously reported on daytime gunfire on Germantown Road in February that also left a man fighting for his life, with investigators in that case relying heavily on public tips and video. Local detectives routinely emphasize that surveillance footage and bystander video can be crucial to tracking down suspects.
Investigation ongoing
Police told FOX13 Memphis that the investigation remains active and that anyone with information is urged to contact the Memphis Police Department. No arrests had been announced as of the initial report, and officers continued canvassing the neighborhood for witnesses and evidence.
