John Waters is set to stalk the stage again at Mosswood Meltdown this July, returning as host for an expanded Oakland punk blowout that now stretches across a pre-party, two festival days and a stack of late-night shows. The main festival runs Saturday and Sunday, July 18–19, following a separately ticketed pre-party on Friday, July 17. Organizers are pairing punk pioneers with newer agitators for what they are billing as one of the festival’s biggest lineups to date.
The updated bill puts Iggy Pop and Bikini Kill on top of the poster alongside Otoboke Beaver, Mannequin Pussy, The Dead Milkmen, The Spits, Toody Cole and her band, and Frankie & the Witch Fingers, as reported by KQED. For context on how this all started, an earlier lineup reveal laid out the initial announcement earlier this year. The newly added pre-party and separate club programming round things out into what organizers are calling a full Mosswood weekend.
The lineup also includes a Ramones tribute billed as The Return of Jackie & Judy, a covers project featuring Fred Armisen alongside Corin Tucker and Carrie Brownstein, per Stereogum. The project has been playing festival dates this spring and brings an intentionally theatrical punk moment to Mosswood’s Sunday bill, with a high-energy, nostalgia-heavy set built around Ramones songcraft.
Tickets, VIP Perks and Festival Hours
Weekend general admission packages are currently listed from roughly $215 depending on tier, while VIP weekend passes can reach $399. The festival’s ticket page lays out current tiers and pricing on Mosswood Meltdown. According to the festival FAQ, VIP passes include dedicated VIP entry lanes, close-to-stage viewing and festival merch bags, and only VIP ticket holders will be permitted ins-and-outs during the weekend. Pre-party tickets are priced separately. Doors for the pre-party open at 4 p.m. on July 17, and festival days are scheduled for roughly 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Late-Night Afterparties At Two Downtown Clubs
On top of the park programming, organizers have locked in six official 21+ after-shows at Thee Stork Club and Eli’s Mile High Club from Friday through Sunday, with separate club tickets required. Event pages confirm that Friday’s Stork Club afterparty will feature Vivian Girls and Snooper, while the Stork’s Saturday afterparty lists The Dirtbombs as the headliner. Details are posted on Eventim and Eventim.
Local listings round out the schedule. Eli’s is showing Josie Cotton with Heather And The Hot Guys and later Memo PST with Warp, while Sunday club nights are billed to include The Avengers, Fea, Jenny Don’t and The Spurs, according to aggregated show listings on Shows.wtf.
Mosswood Park sits at 3612 Webster St in the Piedmont Avenue neighborhood, and Visit Oakland’s event page includes maps and visitor info for the weekend on Visit Oakland. Street parking is limited in the area, so promoters and local guides recommend walking, biking, rideshare or transit for getting to and from the grounds. Expect downtown crowds and late-night foot traffic around Telegraph and nearby blocks throughout the festival weekend.
