On Monday, Knoxville police and East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers put out a call for help finding 24-year-old Samuel Poole Jr., who is wanted on a violation-of-probation warrant tied to alleged theft and possession offenses. Officials describe Poole as about 5-foot-9 and 150 pounds, and his last known address is listed as McPherson Street in Knoxville.
The alert, posted Monday on the East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers Facebook page, lists Poole's birthdate as Dec. 17, 2001, and connects him to Knoxville case number 26-020781 with active warrants (1657768; 133005). The post urges anyone with information to send in tips rather than try to make an arrest themselves, according to East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers.
Details from the bulletin
According to the group's wanted list, Poole is being sought on a violation-of-probation charge that references theft and possession allegations. The listing repeats his physical description and case information, notes the last known address on McPherson Street, and again cites two active warrants. It also states that tips leading to an arrest may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000, details that appear on the organization’s wanted page, according to East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers.
What a violation of probation may mean
Under Tennessee law, accusations of violating probation can trigger a revocation hearing, where a judge may revoke probation and impose the original sentence. Courts follow the procedure outlined in Tennessee Code Annotated § 40-35-311, which requires a finding by a preponderance of the evidence before probation can be revoked, according to Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals guidance.
If you believe you have seen Poole, authorities say to call 911 and do not approach him. Anonymous tips can also be sent by text (ETTips to 738477), through the P3TIPS app, or online, and Crime Stoppers asks that anyone with photos or video preserve them and forward them to investigators, according to East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers.
