
A 50-year-old San Diego man died after a multi-vehicle collision in the city’s South Bay late last Friday night, turning an ordinary drive into a fatal emergency. Medics rushed him to UC San Diego Health’s Hillcrest hospital, where he was pronounced dead several hours later, according to the county medical examiner.
Authorities identified the victim as Hector Manuel Herrera Jr., 50, and said the crash occurred around 9:15 PM on Iris Avenue just west of Hollister Street in the Nestor neighborhood, according to The San Diego Union-Tribune.

The collision took place in Nestor, a residential pocket of South San Diego that sits near Chula Vista and National City and falls within the city’s South Bay planning area. The neighborhood is commonly grouped with Otay Mesa and San Ysidro on local maps, according to Wikipedia.
