
Gunfire on a Winton Hills street late Wednesday night left one person shot in the head and rushed to the hospital, adding another tense chapter to a corridor already on edge.
Cincinnati police say the shooting happened on Winneste Avenue around 11:20 p.m. The victim was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where they were hospitalized for treatment. Investigators found multiple shell casings at the scene, and officers reported that no suspect information was available as of Wednesday night.
According to WKRC Local 12, officers responding to Winneste Avenue around 11:20 p.m. located at least four shell casings in the street. The station reports that the victim was transported to UC Medical Center and that detectives have not released any identifying details or a suspect description while they continue their investigation.
Winneste Avenue Has Drawn Heavy Police Focus
Winneste Avenue and nearby blocks have seen more than their share of flashing lights lately, with repeated police responses that range from tactical deployments to both fatal and nonfatal shootings. A SWAT flood of Winneste Avenue in May rattled residents, and coverage from WCPO has documented other recent shootings that underscore long-running concerns about gun violence in Winton Hills.
