Shoppers at Castleton Square Mall are about to get a lot more than a pretzel and a new pair of sneakers. Prison Island, an international live-action puzzle-and-obstacle attraction, is set to open at the northeast Indianapolis mall this month, turning a chunk of retail real estate into a competitive, 90-minute team challenge. The walk-through experience sends groups racing through dozens of themed "cells" that combine physical agility tests with brain-bending puzzles, fitting neatly into the mall's shift toward more experience-driven tenants.
In a company news release, Fever, the global live-entertainment platform co-producing the Indianapolis location, said the attraction is scheduled to open in late June, with tickets available through the Fever app and the Prison Island website. The release notes the experience is produced by Make It Now in partnership with Fever, and that standard sessions run about 90 minutes.
What to expect inside
Program materials and the venue website say the Indianapolis buildout will feature 47 challenge cells, with teams of two to five players choosing their own route, retrying rooms, and chasing a live leaderboard. Speaking to WISH-TV, Kevin Madden described players moving through themed spaces like a submarine room and a challenge called Dance 21. Organizers say participants will wear scoring bracelets that track progress as they go. The on-site setup is pitched to families, couples looking for a different kind of date night, and corporate groups hunting for a team-building option that does not involve another conference room.
A new kind of mall tenant
Prison Island appears on Castleton Square's list of upcoming entertainment options, signaling that the property is continuing to lean into experiential attractions to keep shoppers coming through the doors. Simon lists the venue as part of the mall lineup, while JFB Construction reported that it began work earlier this year on an approximately 15,000-square-foot build for the project.
Tickets and who it's for
The attraction recommends a minimum age of 7, with most groups running between two and five players. Larger parties and corporate bookings can be arranged through the venue's group page or via Fever. Guests are asked to arrive about 20 minutes before their scheduled start time for check-in. There will be a box office on site, although organizers still recommend booking online to lock in a session.
For updated ticket availability and session times, visitors are directed to the venue's online page or the Fever app. Expect weekend and evening slots, especially date-night and team-building hours, to fill up quickly once the doors open. If you prefer fewer crowds and easier scheduling, midweek sessions are likely to be your best bet.
