A 21-year-old woman is fighting for her life after she was shot in the head Wednesday night in Metairie, according to deputies, who say they have a suspect in custody and an active investigation underway.
The gunfire broke out around 8 p.m. on the 6200 block of Riverside Drive, where the woman was struck in the head and rushed to the hospital in critical condition, according to WGNO.
Arrest and charges
Jefferson Parish deputies say they arrested 33-year-old George Kennedy in connection with the shooting. He faces charges of attempted second-degree murder and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office. Kennedy remains behind bars as investigators continue their work and prosecutors review the case.
