La Vergne police converged on the intersection of Waldron Road and Centrepoint Drive late Wednesday morning after a reported shooting around 11 a.m., keeping the scene active well into the afternoon while investigators worked the area.
Officers, detectives and first responders remained on site as the La Vergne Police Department secured the area, collected evidence and kept nearby residents away from the roadway, urging people to steer clear while the investigation played out.
"Additional resources have been deployed to secure the area, gather evidence, and ensure public safety," the La Vergne Police Department said, noting that the safety of the community is its top priority as detectives continue the probe. The department's comments were posted on its social channels and reported by WSMV. Authorities asked anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident, as well as anyone with surveillance footage, to contact investigators so tips can be followed up.
Recent shootings and local context
La Vergne has seen other gun violence in recent months. A December 2025 incident left a man dead and resulted in arrests, according to local coverage. WGNS reported on that case and on earlier incidents that prompted public appeals for surveillance footage.
