Yesterday morning in Columbus' Linden neighborhood turned violent when gunfire along the 1900 block of Cleveland Avenue left one person dead and another wounded. Police were called to the scene just before 9:30 a.m., and officers arrived to find two people shot. Both were rushed to the hospital, where one victim was pronounced dead shortly before 10 a.m. The second victim was being treated for injuries.
Columbus police confirmed they responded to the scene and found the two victims, according to WSYX/ABC6. The station reports that investigators have not yet released the names of the victims, the current condition of the surviving victim, or any information on possible suspects.
Recent Incidents on Cleveland Avenue
This deadly shooting comes on the heels of other recent violence on Cleveland Avenue and in the broader Linden area. Earlier this month, pre-dawn gunfire in South Linden left one person in critical condition. City officials say they have been assigning extra investigative resources to parts of Linden as detectives work to improve clearance rates on non-fatal shootings.
