A police investigation is underway after a woman’s body washed ashore on Hollywood Beach on Wednesday night, turning a stretch of shoreline into an active crime scene as officers and detectives worked into the evening.
Hollywood Police Department officers were called to the sand near New Mexico Street around 8 p.m. after someone dialed 911. Authorities told reporters the body appeared to be that of a white female, but said they have not yet determined the woman’s identity or age. Further details were not immediately available, according to NBC 6 South Florida.
Scene And Context
This is not the first time this season that a woman’s body has been found along the Hollywood Beach shoreline. In late December, police discovered a woman’s body on the sand and later arrested a suspect in that case, as reported by CBS Miami. That earlier investigation remained active, and officials at the time said there was no immediate threat to the community.
Investigation Continues
Authorities say the probe into Wednesday night’s discovery is ongoing, and they have not released a cause of death or any other identifying details about the woman. Police told NBC 6 South Florida that no further information was available as of the latest update.
