Taquiza, one of Miami’s most-loved taquerias, is packing up its North Beach digs this summer. The oceanfront Broadmoor location will serve its final tacos on Friday, July 31, before the operation heads inland to Little River.

North Beach Outpost To Close After Eight Years

Taquiza’s North Beach outpost at 7450 Ocean Terrace will plate its last tacos on Friday, July 31. The space opened in April 2018 as a short-term pop-up inside the Broadmoor and quietly turned into a neighborhood fixture, earning a Michelin Guide recommendation and a 2020 New Times “Best Tacos” nod, according to Miami New Times.

“What began as a short-term pop-up became a neighborhood institution,” owner Steve Santana said, adding, “While it is difficult to say goodbye to this chapter, we're excited to bring Taquiza's next evolution to Little River.” The move will bring full service to 8246 NE Second Ave, a Little River kitchen Taquiza has used as its commissary and headquarters for more than three years, and the new counter-service spot is expected to open later this summer, per Miami New Times.

Ocean Terrace Redevelopment Pushing Changes

The Broadmoor property is being cleared for the Ocean Terrace development led by Witkoff Group, a mixed-use project that includes a 20-story residential tower and a boutique hotel with condos starting near $6.3 million. The plan also calls for restoring the historic Broadmoor and Ocean Surf buildings and adding public parkland, per The Real Deal.

What Taquiza Will Bring To Little River

The Little River outpost at 8246 NE Second Ave will run as a fast-casual, counter-service spot and is expected to keep Taquiza’s signature blue-corn tortillas and totopos while adding grab-and-go and catering-friendly items like chips, salsas and taco kits. Taquiza’s website lists the Little River restaurant and menu, per Taquiza, and local catering listings show the address and the kinds of to-go offerings customers can expect, according to ezCater.

For Miami Beach regulars it will be a bittersweet summer. The North Beach dining room goes dark on July 31, but Taquiza’s move keeps the blue-corn masa and the tacos many locals swear by within reach, just a short drive across the bay.
