North Las Vegas police say their Narcotics Unit has taken nearly 30 pounds of methamphetamine off the street after a targeted operation, announced Monday. Officials have so far kept the finer points close to the vest, releasing no immediate information about where the drugs were found or whether anyone was taken into custody.
According to FOX5, the department described the seizure as roughly 30 pounds of methamphetamine and credited the Narcotics Unit’s operation for the bust. The station reported that its information came from North Las Vegas police, but did not identify specific officers or disclose the exact location of the operation.
Not the first large seizure this year
It has been a busy year for meth interdictions in the valley. In March, a traffic stop in North Las Vegas turned up just over 100 pounds of meth, according to KTNV.
In April, an additional street-level sweep netted multiple multi-kilogram meth and heroin recoveries as part of an ongoing push to disrupt trafficking, in an operation detailed in coverage of an April sweep.
Federal data show a persistent meth problem
The Drug Enforcement Administration’s 2025 National Drug Threat Assessment finds that methamphetamine and other synthetic drugs continue to drive both trafficking patterns and public health risk, which helps explain why local multi-pound seizures remain a major focus for law enforcement. The assessment details how cartels and transnational criminal networks keep meth flowing into U.S. markets and why sizable hauls like this one are closely tracked by investigators, according to the DEA.
What residents can do
Police have not released additional information about the latest seizure, and investigations are likely still underway.
