Officers blocked nearby streets, emergency vehicles stacked up around the complex, and drivers were told to steer clear of the area until the situation was under control. A short time later, police issued the all-clear, and no injuries were reported.
Safety Advisory After Reports Of Firearms Inside Home
In a post on X, the Pembroke Pines Police Department said officers were working to serve an arrest warrant in the Camden Portofino community at Northwest 108th Avenue and Northwest 3rd Street. The department noted that "though no threats have been made," firearms were believed to be inside the residence, which prompted the shelter-in-place advisory, according to CBS News Miami. Drivers were urged to avoid the area while the investigation played out.
SWAT Assists As Suspect Arrested On Burglary Charge
Police told CBS News Miami that with help from SWAT officers, investigators safely took 38-year-old Zachary Mikolashek into custody on a burglary charge. Authorities did not immediately release additional details about the underlying case or the warrant.
