
A woman was shot in northwest Miami-Dade early Monday and taken to a hospital, where she was listed in stable condition. Deputies said she appeared to have gunshot wounds to her lower extremities, and an active investigation is now underway.
Deputies responded around 1:15 a.m. to the area of 25th Avenue and Northwest 62nd Street, according to NBC 6 South Florida. When they arrived, they found a woman suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to her lower body. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue took her to a nearby hospital in stable condition, the outlet reported. The sheriff’s office has not released any information about a possible suspect.

The shooting unfolded in a residential stretch of northwest Miami-Dade that has seen several recent gun incidents. On May 23, near Northwest 24th Avenue and Northwest 62nd Street, deputies found a man wounded and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue rushed him to Jackson Memorial’s Ryder Trauma Center, as reported by Local 10. Neighbors have voiced concern about rising violence in parts of Brownsville and West Little River in recent weeks. Authorities at Monday’s scene were processing the area and collecting evidence.

Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office detectives are leading the investigation, which remains open, according to NBC 6 South Florida. No arrests have been made, and officials have not released a suspect description.
