A tense road-rage clash in San Francisco’s Richmond District on Tuesday afternoon ended with an arrest after a bystander’s video captured a man hurling objects at an SUV, then hanging onto the side of the moving vehicle as the driver tried to get away. The confrontation broke out just after 2 PM, briefly backing up traffic along California Street near Parker Avenue while stunned witnesses grabbed their phones and started recording.
Video Shows Man Clinging To Moving SUV
Bystander footage shows the suspect gripping the right front passenger window of an SUV as it rolls down the block, with witnesses saying he had already thrown objects at the vehicle and left his own car behind with the driver’s door wide open, according to KRON4. In the clip, someone can be heard yelling, “He’s running him over. Call 911, call 911,” as the SUV continues forward and the man clings on. The video quickly circulated among neighbors and helped spur a police response.
Arrest And Charges
San Francisco police identified the suspect as 49-year-old Alfredo Salvioorozco. He was booked on suspicion of vandalism, making criminal threats, and throwing an object at a vehicle with the intent to cause great bodily injury. He vandalized the SUV "without provocation and made threats toward the driver,” police told KRON4. Authorities did not immediately report any serious injuries connected to the incident.
Police Guidance And Next Steps
The San Francisco Police Department is asking anyone with video or information about what happened to contact officers or use the department’s anonymous tip line, and urges motorists to avoid confrontations and to call 911 if they feel threatened, per SFPD. Investigators are reviewing available footage and witness statements to determine whether prosecutors will pursue formal charges. The case has been booked and is pending review, and neighbors with additional tips are encouraged to reach out to Richmond Station to assist the investigation.
