A quiet stretch of Caton Road in Sevierville briefly turned into a police staging ground Thursday afternoon after residents reported hearing a gunshot. Officers rushed to the scene, set up a perimeter around a home, and launched an on-site investigation. Authorities later said the situation was contained, no one was hurt, and a person inside the residence surrendered to officers.
Patrol officers and the department's SWAT team handled the call, and the individual in the home surrendered without further incident, according to a post from the Sevierville Police Department. After wrapping up their work, officers cleared the residence.
SWAT Capability Brought To The Doorstep
The Sevierville Police Department lists a dedicated "Tactical Operations / SWAT" unit among its specialty services. Discover Policing notes that the department maintains tactical resources for higher-risk calls. That capability, officials said, was used to help secure the scene while detectives processed evidence inside and around the home.
Unanswered Details After Contained Incident
The department's Facebook update did not release the suspect's name or indicate whether any charges had been filed, and investigators stayed on scene to collect evidence, according to the Sevierville Police Department. A fatal Pigeon Forge shooting in April is among several recent gun-related incidents in the county, keeping law enforcement on alert. Anyone with information about Thursday's response was asked to call the department's non-emergency line, as listed by the City of Sevierville.
