South San Francisco just got a serious new lunch (and breakfast, and happy hour) hangout. Omakase World Market, a 50,000-square-foot food hall from the team behind Dumpling Time and Kappo, opened yesterday at the Gateway of Pacific campus, serving both office workers and nearby residents. The indoor-outdoor complex mixes quick-service counters, a bar, and sit-down dining with games and other amenities, aiming to keep people fed from morning matcha and pastries through late-afternoon cocktails.
The multi-concept market is the Omakase Restaurant Group’s first attempt to gather six of its brands under one roof, developed in partnership with BioMed Realty as part of the Gateway of Pacific amenity center, according to a press release via Business Wire. The release notes the roughly 50,000-square-foot venue includes wellness facilities and interactive entertainment like a golf simulator and arcade. “Great food creates community,” Kash Feng said in the release, summing up the strategy behind the buildout.
Six Concepts Under One Roof
The hall pulls together six chef-driven concepts: The Butcher Shop by Niku, Campo, Cuisinett, Dumpling Time, Ichiba by Omakase, and Kyoto Senses, offering everything from wagyu-focused sandwiches and rotisserie chicken to handmade dumplings and matcha drinks, per Omakase World Market. The project marks the latest expansion from Omakase Restaurant Group, which operates the group’s restaurants across the Bay Area and supplied the concepts for the campus marketplace, according to Omakase Restaurant Group.
Hours, Seating and Happy Hour
As reported by Palo Alto Online, the market lists roughly 240 indoor dining seats, about 100 seats in a bar and lounge area, and approximately 180 outdoor seats. Kyoto Senses opens for breakfast service, while the other counters focus on lunch windows, and the bar comes alive in the late afternoon for drinks. Weekday public access is available alongside service for Gateway of Pacific employees, so you do not have to work on campus to get in on the action.
What This Means For The Campus And Neighbors
Gateway of Pacific describes itself as a 36-acre life-science campus anchored by a 50,000-square-foot amenity center, and the addition of a full-service market underscores a push to make the property a place to both work and spend time, according to Gateway of Pacific. For developers and landlords in the life sciences sector, a curated mix of dining and wellness offerings has increasingly become a competitive tool to attract and retain talent on campus.
The market is open on weekdays to both visitors and campus tenants, with menus, ordering options, and a contact number available on the market’s site. For details on what each counter is serving and when, visit Omakase World Market.
