Neighbors told reporters they saw a large police response as detectives worked the scene well into the night.
According to Boston 25 News, officers responded after reports of multiple victims and found three injured people inside the Sunrise Avenue residence. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while two others were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. The Worcester Police Department told Boston 25 it believed the stabbings were related and that detectives were actively investigating. As of that report, police had not released any information about a suspect or a possible motive.
Worcester's recent stabbings
The Sunrise Avenue case is the latest in a run of serious knife attacks in the city this year. A fatal early-April stabbing at a Catharine Street rooming house was detailed in a report on Catharine Street bloodshed, and a separate Main Street stabbing in January was reported by NBC10 Boston. In those earlier cases, investigators also appealed for tips as they worked to establish motive and identify suspects.
Worcester police did not immediately release the names of the victims or a motive in the Sunrise Avenue stabbings, and detectives remained at the scene as the investigation continued. Per the Worcester Police press releases page, Worcester Police posts tipline and contact information for residents who may have information. This story will be updated as officials release additional details.
