Cieladito’s, the Mexican ice cream and candy shop that became a Coral Springs cult favorite, served its last scoop this past Sunday. Husband-and-wife owners Shane and Dulce Carter had turned the small Wiles Road storefront into a late-night destination for chamoyadas, tropical sorbets and piled-high snack mashups. Now the space sits empty in a busy strip center and regulars are suddenly short one sugar fix.
According to the Miami Herald, Cieladito’s specialized in Mexican-style ice cream, sorbet, milkshakes and chamoyada shaved ice, along with rotating treats such as sweet bread, cake pops and loaded Takis. The outlet reports the shop shut its doors Sunday after operating for roughly six years and that the Carters first opened just before COVID-19 lockdowns hit.
Roots and recipes
Cieladito’s menu drew on Dulce Carter’s family recipes from Veracruz, layered with newer snack trends that gave the shop its signature style. The couple, who met in Mexico while Shane was serving in the U.S. Army, launched the Coral Springs storefront in March 2020, according to Coral Springs Talk.
Owners announced the closure
The Carters broke the news on social media, where they thanked customers for years of support and hinted that Cieladito’s might not be gone forever. As reported by the Miami Herald, the owners left the door open to a possible future reopening at a different spot.
What’s next for the Wiles Road space
Online listings now label the business as permanently closed, and the Wiles Road storefront appears to be in play for a new tenant. Per Apple Maps, Cieladito’s is still listed but marked as closed. In coverage of other recent mom-and-pop departures nearby, Coral Springs News has highlighted a steady churn in the local retail scene.
For now, the Carters’ social media hints are the only sign that Cieladito’s could resurface somewhere else in Coral Springs. Until that happens, the city is down one of its more distinctive dessert spots, and fans are left hoping those Veracruz-inspired recipes find a new home.
