Three juveniles are in custody after what police say was a rolling robbery spree that hopped across Springdale, Cincinnati, and West Chester Township before ending on a highway ramp early Thursday. Officers tracked a bright yellow Ford Mustang from a Springdale apartment complex into a short but tense multi-agency pursuit that wrapped up on the ramp from northbound I-75 to westbound I-275.

When the car finally stopped, the three suspects bolted into a wooded area. They did not get far. With help from K-9 teams and police drones, officers combed the brush and took all three into custody. Authorities said the teens are now being held at the Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Center on charges that include aggravated robbery and felonious assault.

How police tracked the vehicle

Springdale police say it all started with a 911 call reporting a person assaulted and robbed at gunpoint in the 1100 block of Chesterdale Drive. Investigators turned to Flock Safety license-plate cameras and quickly tagged the suspected getaway car as a yellow Ford Mustang, according to WLWT.

Officers then tracked the Mustang near East Kemper and Chesterdale roads before spotting it pulling into The Park Apartments on Chesterdale Drive. That is where they moved in and kicked off the pursuit.

Chase and capture

The chase lasted about 10 minutes and ended on the collector ramp from northbound I-75 to westbound I-275, where the car came to a stop and three people jumped out, sprinting into a heavily wooded area, as reported by WCPO.

Officers quickly set up a perimeter. With two K-9 teams working the ground and police drones scanning from above, they found and arrested all three suspects by about 7:30 a.m. Investigators said the Mustang had been reported stolen out of Deerfield Township and matched a vehicle linked to an aggravated robbery with gunfire in Cincinnati.

Charges and custody

Springdale police charged the three juveniles with aggravated robbery, felonious assault and receiving stolen property, and said the driver is also facing a failure-to-comply count, according to WLWT.

All three were transported to the Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Center. The Hamilton County Juvenile Court's contact page identifies the Youth Center as the county's intake and detention facility. Springdale police asked anyone with video or information to call (513) 346-5760 or email [email protected], noting that the Criminal Investigation Unit is still working the case.

What happens next

Cincinnati and West Chester police are expected to bring their own charges as their investigations move forward, and Springdale investigators stressed that their case remains active, per WCPO.

Police did not immediately release the ages of the suspects, and juvenile records are typically shielded under Ohio court rules. Officials said follow-up with victims and ongoing evidence work will shape the next legal steps in each jurisdiction.

Flock cameras and community tips

Springdale's partnership with Flock Safety includes a voluntary camera registry that the department says helps officers locate suspect vehicles and request video from residents or businesses. On its programs page, the department notes that registered cameras are not live-streamed and that participants can opt out.

Police have credited the camera network with speeding up investigations in the area. Anyone who discovers footage that might be connected to the incidents is asked to share it with investigators.
