Surprise residents are about to get a new spot to swirl, sip and linger in City Center, as Turquoise Wine Bar, a woman‑owned boutique franchise, moves toward a summer opening at 14462 W. Elm Street, Suite 113. Franchise leaders say construction is in the home stretch, with a mid‑ to late August debut in their sights.
According to state licensing records and franchise owner Tim Wagenseller, the Surprise location is expected to open between mid and late August. Wagenseller told What Now Phoenix, “We're a wine bar, but ultimately, we're selling an experience,” adding that the team will lean into conversation and weekend live music instead of televisions.
Menu, Flights and Member Perks
The concept pairs small‑lot wines with shareable plates like charcuterie, flatbreads and salads, and features a signature Champagne cupcake alongside rotating tasting flights. Per the Turquoise Wine Bar menu, the lineup also covers sangrias, spritzes and several nonalcoholic options.
The brand’s travel arm highlights member perks that go beyond the glass, including winery partnerships and hosted trips to regions such as Bordeaux and Italy, detailed by Turquoise Wine Travel.
From Glendale Founders to Local Franchises
Turquoise was founded in Glendale by Jen Sinconis and Laura Hernandez, and the company has grown from a neighborhood wine shop into a franchising model across the Valley and beyond. Phoenix New Times notes the founders’ background in wine education and design and how their Roosevelt Row opening emphasized community‑focused hospitality. Franchisees say that neighborhood‑first approach is exactly what they hope to bring to Surprise.
Why Surprise
Wagenseller told What Now Phoenix that Surprise’s push for a downtown‑style district, along with a growing restaurant lineup, made the city a natural fit for the concept. The move also taps into a small‑plates and live‑music trend unfolding across the West Valley, which recently saw arrivals like Head Right Brewing in Surprise, per Surprise scores lager hotspot. If buildout and licensing stay on schedule, franchise leaders expect to welcome guests before the end of summer.
