Windy City Smokeout, Chicago's annual mash-up of country music and barbecue smoke, is stretching out its stay this summer. The fest is adding a new Wednesday kickoff, turning its usual long weekend into a five-day run outside the United Center from July 8–12.
Festival expands to five nights
Organizers confirmed the five-day schedule and shared dates and wristband prices in a press release from Lettuce Entertain You. That midweek opener is billed as a smaller warmup before the full slate of weekend programming kicks in.
Day-by-day headliners
The festival's official schedule has Treaty Oak Revival on Wednesday, Hootie & The Blowfish on Thursday, Lainey Wilson on Friday, Jordan Davis on Saturday, and Blake Shelton closing things out on Sunday. BBQ and special events
More than 20 pitmaster teams are slated to pack into the United Center lot, serving brisket, ribs, and all the usual smoke-ring flexes in what organizers describe as a national barbecue showcase. Festival press materials also highlight returning marquee events, including the self-proclaimed "Biggest Happy Hour of the Summer" on Friday and a bottomless BBQ Brunch on Sunday that requires a separate ticket, according to Lettuce Entertain You.
Getting there and what to expect
The Smokeout takes over the parking lots outside the United Center, and the venue's event page points fans to the Green Line's Damen stop, nearby CTA bus routes, parking maps and rideshare pickup zones. United Center staff recommend reserving parking in advance and relying on CTA or rideshare to avoid long waits when getting in and out of the lots.
Why it matters
Windy City Smokeout has already been named Festival of the Year by the Academy of Country Music, giving the homegrown party national clout and drawing country fans from well beyond city limits.
