The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and law enforcement said a person of interest was detained.
Scene and response
The shooting took place on the 22800 block of Northeast Park Lane on Tuesday, prompting deputies to close off the south side of the store while they worked the scene. Those details, including that the victim died at the scene and that a person of interest was detained, were confirmed by the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office, according to KOIN.
Investigation under way
In a statement, the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office said there is no threat to the broader community but urged people to steer clear of the immediate area while deputies processed the scene. Detectives remained on site collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses as the investigation continued.
How to help
Investigators are asking anyone who saw what happened, or who has video or other relevant information, to contact the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office to help piece together what led up to the shooting. Reporters at the scene said a person of interest had been detained, though authorities did not immediately announce any charges.
