Fire crews in Maury County spent late Saturday night wrestling with a stubborn structure fire at a nearly finished home on Beard Road near the Bethel community. Responding firefighters reported heavy smoke and flames and stayed on scene through the night to knock down hotspots and complete overhaul work.
According to a post from the Maury County Fire Department, District 31 arrived to find a working fire and crews from District 31 and Engine 31 initially mounted an offensive interior attack. When the floor began to give way, firefighters were forced to pull back and switch to a defensive operation. The department’s update lists a full roster of responding units, including engines, multiple tankers and brush units, along with district, safety, operations and support personnel, and notes that crews remained on scene for several hours to bring the blaze under control and handle overhaul.

Because the home sits about a mile off the main road, firefighters relied on tanker shuttles and brush apparatus to keep water flowing, a familiar challenge on remote rural calls.
