Afternoon chaos hit the Upper West Side on Thursday when two men were stabbed in separate but closely timed attacks along West 86th Street, and police say the same suspect may be behind both assaults.
Investigators say it started at West 86th Street and Amsterdam Avenue, where a 40-year-old man was stabbed once in the back. Minutes later, the attacker allegedly headed east to West 86th Street and Central Park West, where a 50-year-old man was stabbed in the chest.
Both men were rushed to local hospitals. Authorities have not released their conditions or said anything about a possible motive as the investigation rolls on.
The suspect is described as a man in his 30s wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black sweatpants and sneakers.

According to ABC7 New York, the first attack was reported at West 86th Street and Amsterdam Avenue and the second at West 86th Street and Central Park West. Police told the outlet that both victims were taken to nearby hospitals, and that they have not yet released information about the victims' conditions or a motive.
