Bloomington shoppers are about to be knee-deep in bubbles. Mall of America has unveiled Bubble Planet, a walk-through, bubble-themed immersive attraction set to arrive inside the Bloomington mega-mall this summer. The 60-to-90-minute experience promises giant bubble ball pits, glowing LED infinity rooms, virtual-reality stations and other hands-on, photo-ready environments designed for visitors of all ages.
Official details and partners
According to a Mall of America press release on Tuesday, Bubble Planet is co-produced by Exhibition Hub in partnership with Merlin Entertainments and Fever and will be located on Level 3, West. "Bubble Planet brings a fresh and exciting energy to our growing mix of experiential concepts," Carrie Charleston, the mall's vice president and head of leasing, said in the release. The mall also says the attraction will offer private events and birthday-party packages for groups.
What to expect inside
Visitors move through a series of themed rooms, from a bubble-bath ball pit to an LED undersea space and infinity chambers that play with scale and light. The itinerary mixes tactile play, lasers and short VR adventures in a roughly hour-to-hour-and-a-half run time, according to the Bubble Planet site. The format mirrors previous Bubble Planet shows that have toured major cities worldwide and leaned on bright, camera-friendly sets to draw social-media attention.
Accessibility and local context
Mall of America has been rolling out sensory-friendly resources this year through a partnership with Minnesota nonprofit Fraser, adding a staffed sensory room, quiet "calm" areas and updated wayfinding to help guests with sensory differences, WCCO reports. Bubble Planet joins a string of recent experiential additions to the mall and reflects an industrywide push toward attractions that keep visitors on site longer, a trend noted by blooloop.
Tickets and timing
Tickets are not on general sale yet, but fans can join the waitlist for the Minneapolis run through Fever. The mall's announcement says joining the waitlist will provide exclusive updates and early-access opportunities; see the Mall of America release for details.
