A man who police say threatened someone with a gun led Cincinnati officers on a search that moved from a black SUV to two homes and a wooded area before he was taken into custody. The suspect was later charged with aggravated robbery, according to police.
Earlier this week, officers responded after receiving a report that a man had threatened someone with a firearm. The suspect entered a black SUV, abandoned it a short distance away, ran into a wooded area and entered two homes, where officers recovered a firearm from a garage, according to the Cincinnati Police Department.
SWAT And K-9 Teams Closed In After The Suspect Fled
Patrol officers and SWAT searched for the suspect after he left the SUV and disappeared into the woods. SWAT began a tactical search with a K-9, then surrounded the area where the suspect was located and took him into custody without further incident.
Cincinnati's police procedure manual allows SWAT assistance during a canine search when a suspect is believed to be armed and has made serious threats against residents or law enforcement, as outlined in the department's department procedure manual.
What The Aggravated Robbery Charge Means In Ohio
Under Ohio law, aggravated robbery applies when someone attempting or committing a theft offense has a deadly weapon and displays, brandishes, indicates possession of or uses it. The charge is classified as a first-degree felony under the Ohio Revised Code, though a criminal charge remains an allegation until resolved in court.
