A Coconut Creek man is accused of turning a June home invasion into a terrifying, technology-fueled robbery that allegedly left one victim bound with duct tape and scrambling to escape. Investigators say the attackers stole more than $27,000 in cash, property and digital currency before trying to erase their trail. The suspect now faces a dozen felony charges.
Tevin Dean, 31, was arrested Wednesday in connection with the June 8 incident, according to Local 10. An arrest warrant says he allegedly acted with Sheendalie Joseph, who is accused of letting Dean into the apartment while the victim was upstairs.
An earlier report from Coconut Creek Talk described the case as an armed home invasion in the Vista Verde community. Police records summarized in that report said the resident was tied up at gunpoint during an overnight attack and that roughly $27,000 was reported stolen.
Police Say The Attack Became A Digital Theft Spree
According to the warrant, Dean allegedly brandished a firearm before holding a kitchen knife to the back of the victim’s head and threatening to kill him. The victim was allegedly forced to strip naked, bound with duct tape and held while the suspects searched through his belongings and used his phone to access financial accounts.
The alleged haul included cryptocurrency sold through the victim’s Coinbase account, roughly $1,200 sent through Zelle to an account tied to Joseph’s son, and attempted transactions after the victim’s debit card was linked to an unauthorized Cash App account, Local 10 reported. Investigators also say additional credit cards were taken from a dresser drawer.
The victim was reportedly left bound for nearly half an hour before breaking free. Investigators say the suspects then deleted seven Ring camera clips and factory-reset the victim’s iPhones before pawning them, wiping out evidence that police were unable to recover even with a search warrant.
Dean Denied Bond As Case Moves Forward
The arrest warrant says Dean faces 12 felony counts, including home invasion with a firearm, armed kidnapping, aggravated battery, false imprisonment, aggravated assault, grand theft, electronic-device offenses, criminal use of personal identification, possession of a stolen credit card and tampering with evidence. A Broward County judge denied him bond.
Joseph is identified in the warrant as an alleged co-defendant, but the available report does not say whether she has been arrested in connection with the Coconut Creek case. The allegations remain unproven, and Dean is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.
