An Allapattah man is behind bars on felony charges after Miami police say a late-night minivan crash in Liberty City turned into an armed robbery on June 28. According to police records, one of the two victims managed to get away while the other was hurt. Authorities arrested the suspect on July 2, and he remains in custody as the case moves through the courts.
According to Local 10, detectives identified Christian Martinez, also known as Christian Martinezguerra, as the driver of a gray Honda Odyssey involved in the crash. Afterward, investigators say he threatened two people and "displayed a silver handgun tucked in his waistband." Detectives allege Martinez pointed the gun at one victim's rib cage, hit him in the face and took three gold bracelets, a gold chain, a pair of shoes and about $100. Police say surveillance footage from a nearby gas station and license plate reader data helped them track the van before and after the robbery.

Martinez faces two felony counts: armed robbery with a deadly weapon and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. A judge has ordered that he remain held pending trial.
