Dante’s Pizzeria’s Logan Square shop has gone dark, leaving regulars with a temporary-closure notice but no word on when the metal-themed New York-style pizzeria will return. The restaurant says delivery orders can still be placed through its Chicago Avenue location, while dine-in and carryout are paused at the Logan Square shop.
The owners announced the change on social media and the restaurant’s website, according to Block Club Chicago. The team described operations at the Armitage Avenue location as temporarily closed, while co-owner Georg Simos did not respond to a request for comment.
The official Dante’s website still lists the Logan Square pizzeria alongside Dante’s Tavern on Chicago Avenue. A local Reddit thread shows why the announcement has unsettled neighbors: the word “temporary” appears, but there is no reopening date or explanation.
Dante’s Logan Square Shop Was The Original Permanent Location
The Armitage Avenue restaurant was Dante’s first permanent location when it opened in 2011, according to Time Out Chicago. The original concept focused on New York-style pizza, slices, stromboli, subs, wings and the famously fiery Dante’s Inferno pie.
Dante’s later expanded beyond Logan Square. Eater Chicago described the Humboldt Park outpost as the chain’s fourth location in 2018, but the Ravenswood, Avondale and Humboldt Park restaurants have since closed.
Chicago Avenue Is The Current Backup
For now, Dante’s Tavern on Chicago Avenue is the chain’s remaining operating location and the place customers are being directed for delivery and carryout orders. The company has not publicly announced why the Logan Square shop closed or when it will reopen, so the confirmed news is a pause—not yet a permanent goodbye.
