A Pulaski neighborhood turned into a crime scene on Saturday when a shooting left a 37-year-old man dead and a 40-year-old man in handcuffs, according to city officials. Police say the suspect is in custody, facing multiple felony counts, after emergency responders tried but were unable to save the victim.
Officers rushed to the 500 block of Culpepper Street after reports of shots fired and found a man with a gunshot wound. Giles EMS attempted life-saving treatment at the scene, but the victim was pronounced dead, police said, as reported by FOX17.
Suspect charged and held
Pulaski police later identified the suspect as 40-year-old Cory Dwain Perry. Investigators with the department’s Criminal Investigation Unit led the case, and Perry was booked on charges that include first-degree murder, felon in possession of a firearm, and armed dangerous felonies. He is being held without bond, according to WKRN.
Investigation ongoing
Detectives are still working the case and say more charges and additional arrests are possible as they canvass the area and review evidence, per FOX17. Authorities have not released any suspected motive and are asking anyone with information to contact the Pulaski Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Unit.
