A late-night confrontation on Glen Meadow Avenue turned ugly Monday when a person was struck in the head with a firearm and rushed to the hospital, Cincinnati police said.
Officers were called to the 7000 block around 8:58 p.m. on a report of a shooting. When they arrived, they found one p erson hurt and had them taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Investigators later determined the injury did not come from a bullet, but from the victim being hit with a gun, and the exact circumstances are still unclear.
According to WKRC Local 12, the victim’s name and detailed medical condition have not been released.
City already on edge
The Glen Meadow assault lands in the middle of a tense year for Cincinnati, where residents have already been rattled by several high-profile shootings. In March, a mass shooting at Riverfront Live left nine people wounded, as reported by USA Today.
Earlier in the year, a separate quadruple shooting led to the closure of a Northside bar and fresh calls for action on public safety, according to FOX19. Incidents like Monday night’s assault only add to the anxiety for neighborhoods already feeling on edge.
Investigation underway
Police said they have no suspect information to share and do not believe there is an active threat to the public, according to WKRC Local 12.
Detectives are still working to piece together what led up to the assault on Glen Meadow Avenue and have not said whether any charges are expected.
