A quiet Tuesday afternoon at the Stratford Ridge Apartments on Delk Road in Marietta turned into a crime scene after a man was found shot inside a vehicle, leaving him in critical condition and fighting for his life at a local hospital. Cobb County police say they are still sorting through what happened and have not released any information on a possible suspect or motive while they work the case.
What Happened
The emergency call came in just before 2:45 p.m., and responding officers found the victim inside a vehicle at the apartment complex, according to WSB‑TV. The outlet reports the man was rushed from the scene to a nearby hospital with life‑threatening injuries. Investigators did not immediately say where he had been shot as they started knocking on doors and looking for clues.
Police Response
Officers were dispatched around 2:40 p.m. to the Stratford Ridge Apartments at 2560 Delk Road, and the department’s Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation, Fox 5 Atlanta reports. The station says no arrests have been made, and detectives want to hear from anyone who may have seen the shooter or caught anything on camera.
Complex History
The Stratford Ridge complex has been on detectives’ radar before. It was the site of a deadly shooting in July 2023, when a victim was killed and police again turned to the public for tips, according to Atlanta News First. That earlier homicide had investigators combing through surveillance footage and asking neighbors to come forward with anything they knew.
Police Ask For Tips
Detectives are once again appealing to the community for help. Anyone who saw or heard anything around the time of the shooting is urged to contact Cobb County police, as reported by WSB Radio. Investigators say that surveillance video or any other information from the area could prove crucial to the case.
