Gunfire near the Cook County Criminal Courthouse sent three men to the hospital Tuesday evening in South Lawndale, leaving one in critical condition and capping off the second shooting in the area within about two hours. Police reported no arrests in either case.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, someone inside a tan sedan opened fire around 8:44 p.m. in the 2400 block of South Washtenaw Avenue. A 21-year-old man was shot in the head and taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, while a 27-year-old man was also shot in the head and listed in critical condition. A 22-year-old man was hit in the leg and was reported in good condition.
Earlier Shooting Just Blocks Away
Roughly two hours before that attack, another man was shot while standing in front of a home in the 2700 block of West 25th Street, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.
Police have not released the names of any of the victims or identified a possible motive. No one was in custody in connection with either shooting, according to the Chicago Sun-Times, and detectives were continuing to investigate.
