A quiet early Tuesday in Murfreesboro was abruptly cut short when gunfire rang out at the Saddlebrook Apartments, leaving two people dead in what police are calling an apparent murder-suicide.
Multiple 911 callers reported hearing shots at the complex, and first responders arrived to find two people dead inside the apartment community. Investigators with the Murfreesboro Police Department say that, based on what they have so far, the scene appears to be a murder-suicide and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
According to FOX17, officers and medical crews were dispatched around 1:45 a.m. after several reports of shots fired. Murfreesboro police told the outlet that preliminary findings indicate one of the deceased fatally shot the other, then took their own life.

The case is now in the hands of the Murfreesboro Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division, which is working to piece together what led up to the deadly encounter.
