Kevin McCallister is taking over Gaylord Opryland this winter, and yes, there will be ice slides. The resort is bringing back its signature ICE! attraction with a Home Alone theme, running Nov. 6 through Jan. 2 as part of the property’s 43rd annual A Country Christmas and recreating scenes from the movie inside the Nashville complex.
In a press release, Gaylord Hotels said the nationwide ICE! lineup will lean on more than two million pounds of hand‑carved ice and master artisans from Harbin, China to create the displays. The company notes the sculptures will be kept at about 9 degrees Fahrenheit, and guests will be loaned the event’s signature blue parkas. According to Gaylord Hotels, the rollout will span multiple resorts this season.
Local coverage spells out how the Nashville build will work. FOX 17 reports the Home Alone installation will cover roughly 17,000 square feet across 11 interactive scenes, using more than 6,000 massive blocks of ice to form five ice slides, crawl‑through passages and tunnels. Visitors will move through Kevin McCallister’s booby‑trap blueprints and moments like the mannequin party and the infamous aftershave scene.
Tickets, timing and access
Early‑bird packages and single‑visit tickets are on sale now, and overnight guests who purchase ICE! tickets receive a complimentary “Chill Pass” for front‑of‑the‑line access. The resort is managing capacity on peak dates and guarantees resort access after 3 p.m. CT for overnight guests and certain ticket holders. For booking rules, package details and the calendar of peak days, see Christmas at Gaylord Opryland.
What it means for Music City
ICE! returns as Gaylord Opryland continues a multi‑year reinvestment in its campus. Ryman Hospitality and the resort recently marked a topping‑out on a roughly $131 million expansion that will add meeting and ballroom space. The ceremonial beam was set in place on July 9, 2026, according to a Visit Music City press release, and local reporting has framed the project as a bet on bigger conventions for Nashville. That convention push is chronicled in Big Convention Bet.
Plan‑early savings run through Aug. 10, and many activity passes offer bundled discounts that can shave as much as 30 percent off a room plus ICE! admission. For tickets, dates and advisories, visit the event site at Christmas at Gaylord Opryland.
