Nearly five months after a February shooting in Coconut Grove left a man wounded, Miami police have arrested 31-year-old Homestead resident Kordy Clark on charges that include attempted murder. Investigators say Clark broke down emotionally after the gunfire, telling officers he “didn’t mean to do that to him” as he rode away on a bicycle.

The arrest, announced Thursday, caps an investigation that relied on shell casings, bystander video and witness accounts to identify Clark as the suspected shooter.

According to police, the shooting unfolded around 7:45 p.m. on Feb. 23 near Florida Avenue and Douglas Road, after officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert and found multiple shell casings at the scene. A short time later, a wounded man showed up at HCA Florida Mercy Hospital with a gunshot wound to the buttocks.

A witness told detectives that a man on a bicycle, later identified as Clark, rolled up carrying a gun and asked, “Where’s Biz at? He’s going to get it, or anyone who’s with him.” Bystanders recorded portions of the confrontation, and investigators recovered additional shell casings in the area, according to Local 10.

How the shooting unfolded

Detectives say tensions spiked when the victim got out of a vehicle during an argument and fired a round into the air. As the man ran off, Clark allegedly fired several shots in his direction, hitting him in the buttocks. Authorities say a bullet also struck a witness’s car, and the victim later told investigators he jumped over a wall after being shot.

Police have been stitching together the timeline from hospital records, interviews with witnesses and physical evidence collected at the scene.

What police say

According to the arrest report, detectives tracked Clark to his home in Homestead and brought him back to Miami for questioning. He first claimed he did not know the victim, then later admitted they had known each other for years and once attended school together.

Clark also reportedly told investigators he had a past sexual relationship with the victim’s sister and believed accusations connected to that might have helped trigger the conflict. During the interview, the report notes, Clark appeared to cry and said, “I didn’t mean to do that to him.”

Authorities say Clark has been booked on charges of attempted murder, using a firearm in the commission of a felony and unlawful discharge of a firearm. He is being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, according to Local 10.

Grove context

The shooting lands in the middle of a tense stretch for Coconut Grove, where residents and business owners have been rattled by a series of recent violent incidents. In June, Hoodline reported on a pre-dawn shooting in Coconut Grove that further highlighted neighborhood worries about gunfire on busy streets.

Miami police are asking anyone with additional information about the February incident to contact detectives or Miami‑Dade Crime Stoppers. Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling 305‑471‑8477, according to the Miami Police Department.
