A Sunday-night well-being check in the Valparaiso area ended with a grisly discovery inside a family home. Serena Dolnics, 32, is accused of stabbing her father, Gregory Dolnics, to death and removing his heart.
According to KFOR, court documents say officers were sent to the home shortly before 8 p.m. after family members became concerned they could not reach Gregory. Officers found him dead with multiple stab wounds, and the removed heart was reportedly found on his stomach; a coroner ruled the death a homicide caused by multiple sharp-force injuries.
Police Found Three Bloody Knives At The Home
The Porter County Sheriff's Office booking records list Dolnics as arrested on a murder charge and held without bond. The record identifies the alleged offense under Indiana's murder statute, but it does not establish guilt.
Charging documents say a tactical response team was called after officers encountered a blood-filled scene and could not immediately reach Dolnics. She was taken into custody a little after 9:45 p.m. and later transported to a hospital for injuries to her hands, while investigators recovered three knives with blood on them, KFOR reported.
Dolnics Faces A Murder Charge In Porter County
Indiana's current criminal code classifies murder under Indiana Code 35-42-1-1, as outlined by the Indiana General Assembly. The allegations in the charging documents remain unproven, and Dolnics is presumed innocent unless she is convicted in court.
